Continuing my series of dull & wet Leuchars Battle of Britain shows…….
You can tell by the diffused shadows (or lack thereof under the planes)

Just stunning  The Nostalgia is just oooozing from this selection. Meteors, natural metal CF104's, Lightnings ....
Really loving your selections. The Hastings and Varsitys were regular over my area, but was only equipped with an Instamatic at the time :)
Thanks for posting

What a great post . The Canadian Starfighters looked great in natural metal and the camo Argosy is superb.

Thanks for posting . Mike

I can see everyone saying - Why is this a person and not an aeroplane????? All will become clear.

I must admit, having seen most CF-104s in Nat Metal (multiple trips to Prestwick and peering in the hangar where they were getting refitted) I didn't like the later camo schemes at all!
A quick Starfighter story from 64/65 at Prestwick listening to my Gauers VHF radio - (Seen above a few years later on my way back from Hawarden)
A CF-104G took off on an air-test
Next out was a BOAC 707
His clearance started 'Cleared to cross Skipness at 17,000' (a beacon about 40 miles away) - This was in the days when a C-135A taking off at Prestwick for the ocean-crossing was rumoured only to gain height because the earth curved away.
There was a strangled 'WHAT????? - How do you expect me to manage that??
"Well, the last plane made it" said the tower
"The last plane was a Starfighter - I'm a fully loaded 707 airliner"
Clearance was revised to 8,000'

Other half of the album follows

I make no excuses for multiple ones of this:-

A bit camera shake, but when you've got a Belfast at this angle, you take the photo!

Frankly, looking at these scans, I should really go back and re-do them. I have an infinitely better scanner these days and my knowledge of Photoshop is on the same basis. However, with Photoshop, I only know enough to realise how much I don't know, which is a lot!
It was my retirement bucket list to get all my negatives scanned and 7 years later I've done the B&W ones

That Belfast shot, much better than we used to get at the Biggin Hill Battle of Britain open days, staright flypast usually. Did you get any Brittanias?

Only one from that vintage - at an even wetter mistier Turnhouse Air Show 1970 than many Leuchars shows
I've done a separate topic for that
