Moving forwards a year to 1968 at Leuchars, I still have more than 20 years to go before I finally changed to colour, so these all still B&W

Yup!!
Quite liked it myself for that reason - But not sure if the Gnat is that small or the Gannet that huge.
And if you look at the shadows, the Gnat is forward of the Gannet, so would be even smaller if in line.

Here endeth the show
I was going to check Scramble's list for the show - 2 Vulcans there was unusual and I thought I maybe had a misplaced negative, but I presume XH558 took off and went away (It was a 'normal Vulcan then) but they don't have a report for that year

I love these photos. It's not only for the subject matter but there's also a lot happening in the background, with both aircraft and people.

Still trying to work out if XH588 was there, or if that was '67, I checked the SCAN archive DVD's.
Not clear yet about that, but found this first paragraph interesting after the weather was mentioned in the '67 posting:-
As with all air shows, one of the most important factors is the weather.
Good weather almost automatically improves the standard of the display, while bad weather puts everyone - public and display participants alike -on the wrong foot.
RAF Leuchars is the exception which proves the rule. 'Good Weather’ at Leuchars means that the cloud base is at least no lower than 250ft. and that the rain is light. Bad weather means that visibility is zero and you might as well have gone to see Auchtormacmuckle Rovers beating Celtic 12:1!
