Deblin - Polish Air Force Museum (large post)

Post by johnwickenden » Mon Aug 19, 2019 5:38 pm

Following on from the albums I posted of the two museums in Warsaw....the following day saw us making the drive to Deblin to view the Polish AF museum. Again, we were waved in free of charge when the signs said an entry fee was payable (they must like my face). The museum is fairly new and has 75+ exhibits on show. The internal hall by the shop contains a few replicas of early and WW2 Types. There is one hangar which was inaccessible during our visit but I think it only contains about 5 aircraft maximum. The external display contains the usual variety of types - Migs, Sukhoi, Mils etc but there are one of two goodies. Most aircraft are in reasonable condition although a few could use some TLC.....mainly those that have recently been inherited from the defunct museum at Lodz.

Anyway, with 75 aircraft to choose from, its a bit difficult to know what should and shouldn't be included in this selection......hope these meet your approval!

First up, rarest type in the collection and the first one I've seen - Yak 23

Next a Mig 17PF....am I correct in thinking that this camoflague was actually applied to aircraft operated by the Polish Navy?

Actually sitting outside the museum, by the entrance. Mi6

A line up of Migs that, I believe, came from Lodz, headed up by a Mig15uti

One of 3 Sukhoi SU22-M4's on display

There are also 3 Beagle's on display....this is the most well presented of them

Again, 3 Mig 23MFs on display....here's one

And 3 Mi14PS.....none of which have their main rotors !

This SM-1/300 is actually carrying a false serial. It's actually 5005

Tiger striped Mig 21M

Sukhoi Su7UM

Mig 29G serial 4109 is on the port side

There are at least 11 Mig 21's on display (and why not?....they are gorgeous). This is one of 2 PFM variants

and finally.....completely out of place - A Belgian Mirage VBA !

Hope there was something there for everyone to enjoy!
Its gonna rain, its gonna rain till the levee breaks, a tidal wave of fear and pain washes us away, another fight into the night until nothing else remains, how do we find harbour from the Hurricane?

Looks good - They do like a museum in Poland

Plus you have the training base
