My turn for nostalgia - Part 1....the mighty toom

Post by johnwickenden » Fri Jun 14, 2019 11:28 am

As it seems to be de rigeur to cast our minds back to yester year, when (lets face it) things were so much better and more interesting (those young 'uns, don't know what it was like). I thought I would offer up some of my pics of yesterdays types. Starting with my fave non-British built RAF type. Excuse the quality of some....they are scans from prints of course)

and finally - it makes you want to weep - XV499 ending it's days in the yard at Hixon

Thanks for sharing. I was at most of these events. My favourite the Spook and I made sure I made the long trip to Wattisham many times in those last few years.

I have a shot of 4 powering up on the runway at Waddington during that last ACMI. Will have to dig them out and scan them too.

Cheers
Paul

Great shot of XV404 on finals which is actually from 19 Sqn. (the Dolphins). A pleasing set for us F4 Phreaks.
