Half and half, Habus and 'Varks

Hi Peeps :P

It's chucking it down, the boss is out and it's ME time :Wow:

A bit more delving has unearthed these criminally bad shots, but i'll bung them up anyways

Great shots Paddy, I am sure the SR-71 is Air Fete 86 as I have similar shots against the old green hangar! Miss the BBQ's and Budweiser's

Yep,certainly worth a peek Paddy  What better to do in 'me time' ! I do remember getting drenched one year too. The SR shots are superb - I find it unbelievable - that's an aeroplane that still looks like it's from the future !!
The Aussie F111 was always a thriller - saw their display at The Royal Review in 1977 - when I saw the practice and thought something had gone seriously wrong and it was going down - a 20ft trail of pure fire all part of the thrill :Wow:

Thanks for posting

Great stuff Paddy and loads of good memories for me there. :thumb:
It must have taken you ages to fight through the crowds after you took the 1st shot to take the 2nd one - the tarmac has dried-out and the sun's out! :Wow:
This season, I'll be mostly wearing........A THONG!

Hi Paddyboy :P
Love that first shot, just look at the camera cases slung over the should of the two guys on the left, proper metal.
Great shots from a great era in aviation.
I miss the F-111 in the skies around Lincolnshire when they visited Binbrook, all days gone by now.
All the best

Liking that side-on of the Vark rotating Patrick. Re - the metal camera case in #1 - I used to have one. They were great for showing off stickers. Like for carrying yr. spotter CV around on. Always IAT and rare Sqn. ones. Never the common or garden ones like the Reds.

I remember being at the r/w11 end for arrivals when- oh no, not more F-111s; WOT? No; FB-111s! possibly from Pease. What a bonus.
And aye, it's the Polish sausages I can whiff and miss.
Well done Patrick

Not having seen an operational Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird is my biggest regret as an Aviation Enthusiast. Went to Mildenhall once in 1988 when the Blackbird was there but never saw it. I have seen the Blackbird at Duxford but for some reason it wasn't the same as seeing an operational flying one.

Oh by the way it is my joint first biggest regret as it is tied for first place with never having seen the English Electric Lightning (really) flying. And who hasn't seen one of them in a Museum?

As for the F-111E/F, well loved it when these guys were at Lakenheath - Sorry never made it to Upper Heyford but saw plenty of both 'Varks (from both bases) - including the EF-111 Raven - Stunning Aircraft.
