A touch of nostalgia that seems appropriate with the currently anticipated F-16 deployment to Lakenheath - it’s almost hard to believe that the type has been around for 40 years and more.
Pictured is AFFTC F-16A 75-0749 at RAF Alconbury on 4th May 1979, 40 years ago today. The aircraft was in Europe undertaking trials prior to the type’s entry into USAF service.
It's interesting how long-lived aircraft designs are compared to many other items in our lives. The only thing dating that photograph is what looks like the nose of a Ford Zephyr.
