GR1 Odds & Sodds
GR1 Odds & Sodds
Now that the old girl has gone I took the opportunity to dig around my filing cabinet and find some old prints, some of which have never seen the light of day before:
1983, three 617 Sqn jets at Toronto for the airshow do a flyby of a press helicopter over Niagra Falls
Probably 1983 again when BAe celebrated the third squadron with a photoshoot:
My 30th birthday party 1988, the Tornado reunion at Cottesmore, started drinking on the coach at 8am
An odd one this, Red Flag 1990, Tornado 3-ship photographed over the desert by a USAF recce F4
Circa 1989, more innocent days, the Laarbruch Wing
Mid 1990s now and in a ground tour, watching the Marham Recce Wing outside my window
And now the joys of the old wet-film debriefing system for the HUD, Hi-Def it was not
Filming our wingman launching an AIM9 at a RAF Valley missile camp
And finally, dropping 1000lb retarded bombs on Garvie Island
Bye bye old thing, thanks for all the fun.

Epic images, especially the one looking right up the business end of ZA613 in full reheat. Many thanks for sharing

Re: GR1 Odds & Sodds
Very interesting stuff.
Re: GR1 Odds & Sodds
Excellent Wizz, I can see the ‘Major’ from 16 on the TTTE. I’m 4 front left front in the Laarbruch photo, great times, Taff.
Re: GR1 Odds & Sodds
Hi Taff,
I can always find myself on the Laarbruch pic because I was careful to stand with an AIM9 pointing at me.

Very interesting selection. Thanks for taking time to sort out and share. Liking the air to air of examples from the first 3 Sqns. which I've never seen before and also the Laarbruch pic which I'm sure their museum would appreciate a copy of.
