RAF Germany Tribute

Watching a news item on the RAF Laarbruch Museum on Forces News last week I was disappointed to hear of the lack of recognition of the role and status of RAF Germany in our own RAF Museum. Whilst my generation grew up with it and are fully aware of its attributes it concerns me how quickly it has been forgotten even, it would seem, by those institutions who have a duty to preserve its memory. I therefore offer my own tribute in this selection of images of the aircraft types and squadrons which constituted the Command during its last decades. There are precious few ex - RAFG aircraft preserved in UK museums. The 92 Sqn. Lightning F2A (shown) in Scotland's Museum of Flight is a rare example.

Always used to love seeing them at Lossiemouth on the rare occasions that they visited.
Cheers.

Nice picture flashback, especially the GR3 air to air shot. Some good copies amongst the set, that have stood the test of time... :thumb:

Nice collection of images. Although the Lightning looks good, personally I think the overall natural metal finish was the best.

Super set

Really like the Harrier GR.3 in the air

The Chinook is still going strong and I recently saw it at Horse guards parade during the RAF 100 and hopefully it will see at least another 10+ years if it is converted to an HC6

Good value for money there then, given that was taken @ Finningley in '81. Already got 37 yrs. service in!
