Great Formation Flypasts Past

Judging from the TV news most spectators were amazed by the RAF formation flypasts over the Palace on Tuesday. Over 100 aircraft - wow. Who 'd have thought we had so many Typhoons. To be fair the Typhoon 100 formation was pretty impressive, but they were nt all from one base were they? Nevertheless the spectacle had me rooting through my collection for the most memorable formation flypasts I have recorded and here is the final selection in date order. you will notice that the 1FTS Tucanos are heavily featured and this is because they got something of a reputation for this around the millenium. Their E II R formation is I think the most impressive I've ever seen and worth a second view. Bear in mind that all the RAF ones were from single Commands or Stations.

I remember the Church Fenton JP and Tucano picture well. Shame about the closure. Good retro look back though...

Terrific stuff

Love those JPs and the Abingdon flypast looks impressive.

Did you go to the 1977 royal navy review at spithead? The sky was full of wasps and Wessex

Afraid not Mike. Much too far south for me but I do recall seeing pics in the mags & TV footage so I do have an idea how impressive it must have been.

Again, "those were the days". One of the advantages of being old. Great post

Great pics; wondering if we should have a "Great Formation Flypasts Past" thread? There must be loads of formation pics out there, or has this already been done on FC? :S
