A very long time ago, in the 1980s, there was a Vampire VV217 next to the ATC parade ground in Bury St Edmunds.
Time has moved on and it moved...
Demobbed had it Up North in 2010, and there have been hints of a depleted airframe at RAF Barnham in 2012.

Does anyone know if/where this aircraft still exists?

Believed to be with the de Havilland Aircraft Museum but stored off site awaiting restoration.

If the 1980s was a "very long time ago", then I guess most of the youngsters on the forum will consider the following update to be pre-history - along with the dinosaurs...

VV217 is possibly the reason for my lifelong interest in all things related to aviation. In the early 1960s this airframe was located on a piece of waste ground off Cannon Street in Bury St Edmunds where Petch Close has now been built - just next to the cobblers... (you can find it on Google). I remember wanting to be lifted up to peer through a hole in the gate every time I walked past that way.

It is good to hear that this will be preserved - I'll have to go renew my acquaintance.

The Pod of VV217 is stored at Tilbury with the wings at London Colney.

After many years in storage at the North East Aircraft Museum in Sunderland the aircraft was donated by myself to the De Havilland collection in recognition of its association with John Derry
