Great shots, thanks for posting, can never have too many F4 pics, one of my all time favs
Re: 10TRW Photo call
Thanks for sharing such a fantastic selection of photos. I started spotting in 1983 and all the usaf tail codes were black by then. I really regret not seeing any white coded ones , I think they looked much better.
Best regards

Re: 10TRW Photo call
I can remember seeing these on the approach to Colt on runway 22, plenty of smoke and howl of engines, they were a wonderful sight and greatly missed. Thanks for posting.
Re: 10TRW Photo call
Another great post. Spent many days on the fence line at Alconbury, my favourite base.
Most of my shots are in the Lizard scheme and remember getting excited if one of the few left in the old scheme taxied out.

Re: 10TRW Photo call
Didn't go to this unfortunately but can narrow the date down to between 8 July to 16 Sep'78.
Key to this is 69-0382. This was part of Coronet Heron - the Deployment of 18 62TRS/363TRW a/c to Coltishall on Mon 12 Jun'78 (1 a/c landing at Norwich Airport.) 382 and 68-0580 arrived without tail codes/sqdn markings but the rest were coded JO. They lacked markings because they were being swapped with 2 Alconbury a/c which would depart to the USA with the JO's at the end of the deployment on the 23 Jun.
The next time I saw 382 was at Alconbury on 8 July - still without a tail code/sqdn fin stripe.
However, when I noted it again at Alconbury on 16 Sep it was fully marked AR/Blue with the 1 TRS.
68-0556 also brought back some memories - its first unit being the 17TRS/66TRW at Upper Heyford. First noted it there on Sun 27 Apr'69, a few days after being delivered from the factory at St Louis via Torrejon. Back then tail codes hadn't been introduced and it just had 80556 applied in small numbers to the fin in black. In Jan'70 it, together with the 17TRS, was transferred to the 86TFW at Zweibrucken and later the 26TRW, remaining at the same base. In Sep'77 the 26TRW transferred it to Alconbury's 1 TRS.
Looking back at the history of Alconbury it was certainly Phantom heaven.

Re: 10TRW Photo call
Thanks for all the comments, thanks also to Graham for the detail on the two machines which I'd forgotten about but now this change comes back to mind as I saw the unmarked machines at Coltishall. I've checked my BAR's from 78 and I cant find reference to a photo cal also checked my own logs from the tiem and as i made several visits to Alconbury no specific date stands out. But agin thanks Graham. As most say looking at my logs specifically Alconbury it was a great place for variety and a great place for photgraphs. I may find more to follow over the winter months. Thanks
