Many thanks for sharing these. I love the twin bases & your pics bring the memories flooding back!
I especially like the ones of the 78TFS A-10s on the HAS site at Woodbridge. I remember the days walking along the fence by the East gate with my dad, going towards the HAS site to get a better view of the A-10s. I remember the Yanks being quite friendly to the spotters at the time and didn't seem to mind us watching them.

Thanks again for sharing.

And there's plenty more where that came from!

Thanks for the comments guys, apprieciate that. For the record the A10s at Woodbridge are in fact 510TFS machines there because of runway repairs at Bentwaters. Ironically the 78TFS machines are seen at Bentwaters when Woodbridge's runway was being done! The colours at the time went thus - Woodbridge based 91st and 78th were Blue and Red respectivally while at Bentwaters we had 92nd(yellow) and 510th (purple). BY this time the 509th(Grey) and 511th(Black) had moved to Alconbury.

I wish I could have visited those bases before they closed, the photographic opportunities from outside look terrific. I really like the line up of noses at the last chance checks - great stuff.

There are some downsides to the fall of the Iron Curtain i guess.

I miss those days bunking off college and driving to Upper Heyford, Bentwaters, Alconbury, Woodbridge.

Hawg Heaven! I've kicked myself for not venturing down to WR and I had ample opertunity to go, it was always "just a little bit too far for a daytrip", pathetic when I reflect on it now.
Like that saying - you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone!

Everyone has a photographic memory; some just don't have film.
