Along with the various lumps of exotica Phil has photographed on his travels, he also caught a large number of aircraft in various states of disrepair at various locations.

Spitfire F.22 PK664. This aircraft was the one which the RAF Museum "paid" Kennet Aviation for the recovery and return of the P-40 which was found in the desert in Egypt a couple of years ago, and is still to make it's way back to the UK

I still have memories of the local fire dump inmates at Binbrook, Coningsby, Scampton and Waddington being torched :(

Anymore Canberras and Shackletons? or Lightnings Vulcans Hunters and so on...

Note the " 40612 " graffiti on the nearest Belgium Hunter at Feltham

you will need to been around at the time to understand this !!

I can remember my dad taking me to look at the Spitfire in the greenhouse type thing in Stoke......first time I'd seen one close up.

I am just glad that Phil took pics of some of these, in the heady days of loads of aircraft that were availble for preservation.

Its in stark contrast to what happens now :( :'(
