It's Back! Graf Zeppelin's Wrecks & Relics - Pts. 1 to 4
Along with the various lumps of exotica Phil has photographed on his travels, he also caught a large number of aircraft in various states of disrepair at various locations.
Starting at Manston on 24 October 1971
Vulcan B.1A XH483
Javelin FAW.6 XA829
Hastings C.1 TG501
RAF Museum Store at Henlow, 25 October 71
Shackleton MR.3/3 XF703
Shawbury, 28 October 71
Lots of JP fuselage centre sections
Luton, 13 November 71
Whirlwind HAS.7 XK907
Kemble, 25 November 71
"Celebrity" Canberra B.16 WJ777
Various Meteors
Argosys
Binbrook, 13 February 74
Spitfire F.22 PK664. This aircraft was the one which the RAF Museum "paid" Kennet Aviation for the recovery and return of the P-40 which was found in the desert in Egypt a couple of years ago, and is still to make it's way back to the UK
Halton, 1 August 78
Twin Pioneer CC.1 XM961
More to follow as I find them...

Lovely Stuff Phil
I still have memories of the local fire dump inmates at Binbrook, Coningsby, Scampton and Waddington being torched
Anymore Canberras and Shackletons? or Lightnings Vulcans Hunters and so on...

Re: Graf Zeppelin's Guide to Wrecks & Relics - Pts. 1 to 3
Morning Patrick. You may not have been old enough to see an S.51 Dragonfly in the air, but I certainly was!!. I remember, many years ago, standing on the cliffs at Lee-on-Solent or somewhere, with my parents, on a windy day. There was a sailing dinghy in trouble about a mile off shore with two occupants. Dragonfly couldn't find it [very choppy, difficult to see] A lot of commom sense from everybody came into play. Helicopter flew towards us twenty or so spectators, turned round behind us and hovered. Everyone realised what he wanted, we fanned out along the cliff top, and stretched our arms out all pointing at the dinghy. He followed the angle, and rescued the two occupants. Good day.
Lovely pictures. Happy memories of 45 minutes in a Vampire T11 from Shawbury through what is now called the Mach Loop.

More class piccies, thanks for sharing.
Re: Graf Zeppelin's Guide to Wrecks & Relics - Pts. 1 to 3
I am just glad that Phil took pics of some of these, in the heady days of loads of aircraft that were availble for preservation.
Its in stark contrast to what happens now
Keep them coming Phil
