Not hindered by any knowledge of the new Russia we went to Zhukovsky in august 1992 for the Mosaeroshow ‘92, the forerunner of the latter MAKS shows. As it was the first show ever at this base it was a real eye-opener. As a bonus we received wrong passes, which gave us also entry to the operational side of the base. Needless to say it was heaven for us. Only very few western spotters/photographers visited this show. I hope you like the pictures.

SU-7UB Moujik, this aircraft crashed ten minutes after this picture was taken. Should do an ejectionseat demo, the frontseat worked fine and the pilot was OK.

For the people who have been in Moscow after the mid 90's, this is how the streets in Moscow looked in 1992, a few cars and no billboards.

Wow, awesome post! Not many flying shots of the Valant out there. What a beast! :O
You then realize that nobody going there now will ever get shots as rare as these. Epic stuff :thumb:

No wonder the IL-102 lost the design competition to the SU-25! Rank!

All shots are rare as rocking horse... and have been great to look through for a cold war kid.

Thanks.

Wow, very rare. That twin seat Su-7 and Ka-25 Hormone (not a Ka-27) are amazing, must have been the last airworthy survivors of their type. Most of the others were still there in 1993.

What a wonderful post!!! It knocks modern shots of Su-30s etc in to the rough!!! My first and only MAKS experience was 2005 and, of course, much had changed by then, sadly!
