NAF Keflavik, Iceland, Sep 1984

The following were taken on a weekend visit by Nimrod from RAF Kinloss. Unfortunately, none of the 57 FIS's aircraft were outside:

Interesting post - remember 17191 when it was based at Mildenhall in the 60's/early 70's. It used to be a regular visitor to St Mawgan supporting the US Navy detachment there.

Visits to England by the 57FIS were very rare during its F-102 days although I did see 2 pairs of '102's and a pair of T-Birds at Upper Heyford in '68. Apart from using the T-33's as `hacks`they also used them as practice targets.

Too bad there were no F-4's outside - the 57FIS ones were smart looking aircraft.

They might have been rare visitors to England but they used to frequently drop into Lossiemouth.

You're half right - the NAF at Mildenhall had both.

On Friday 10th Oct'69 for example they were both flying, 17171 flew Mildenhall - Lossiemouth - Mildenhall as "Navy17171" while 17191 went Mildenhall - St Mawgan - Mildenhall as "Navy17191".
