My Dad's Photo's

Post by gibson617 » Thu Nov 06, 2014 3:14 pm

My Dad passed away last year and I have been sorting out the family photo's for my brothers and came across these . They are poor quality and I have no idea when or where they were taken . If anyone has information I would be very grateful. Hope they may be of interest to someone .

Wonderful shots, some of them look like Middle Wallop in (1973 perhaps?) I'm not sure about the Sea Vixens though !

Any more? :)

1970 Booker/High Wycombe

The Spitfire coded AI-B is MkI G-AIST still wearing the codes from the Battle of Britain movie and the Fokker Eindecker is the one that PPS built G-AVJO, which means the Yak is G-AYAK but I dont remember seeing it white. The unmarked Spitfire is MKIX G-ASJV. The BOAC Vc-10 dates it. The JP's are the Red Pelicans!

the yak 11 could be G AYAK which belonged to Antony Hutton in the late seventies/early eighties. think it was imported in about 72/73, ex egyptian airforce.

I'd agree with Booker , the rising ground and woods looking to the North . But more so are the fuel pumps , taxiway curving away behind them ; the gliding club's engineering blister hangar , parked glider and tyre [ mostly much the same today ] . What surprises me are the JPs , I know the 5 is more powerful ; but in and out of 735 metres !

atb condor .

Certainly many of them were at Booker. I learnt to fly there many years ago at Wycombe Air Centre. Agree that the Yak 11 is G-AYAK, but I also don't remember it being in white, tho' I was flying a year or two later. I remember it as being brown. When I obtained my PPL, I saw Neil Williams sitting on the wing, and he autographed his book, 'Airborne' for me. A couple of weeks later, he was dead in the wreckage of a CASA111. Knew the Bianchis' quite well in those far off Halcyon days, when an hour in a Cessna 150 cost £15.00 ................... :)

Sorry to hear about your loss, but thanks for taking time to post these.
I can't help with what/where or when, but they are an interesting set of photos to see.
All the best
