What a great thread!

So many great photos, thanks for posting your Dad's pics. Standouts for me, the YF-17, C-130A with the original nose (or lack of it), the line-up of Gannets and lastly, the best one (just for the movement and the light): Canberra WK163 on the previous page. Iconic.

Very nice post Stuart - those 'sand' camo C-130s & Andovers are great

As usual great quality scans - look as though they were taken a few days ago

Thanks for posting and dont leave it so long next time

Cheers

Thanks for these, Stuart. We need more of this quality on here :thumb:
Incredible stuff, so much to comment on... but then the jaw dropped with the Iranian 707 :O
Any story behind the visit(s) here? Presumably pre-revolution?!

Thanks for the comments guys. As for the Iranian AF Boeing 707 they were pretty regular visitors to Brize in the seventies during a more harmonious period in our countries relationships. Here is an Iranian AF C-130E taken on a cold wimters day at Brize December 1976.

Oh man, those Brize pics bring back some memories!
When I was a kid the skies seemed full of Belfast's, Argosies, Andovers, Britannias and VC10s (and Gnats and JPs too).
Great photos

Digital quality pics from the pre-digital age. Loving the pin sharp quality of the Tornado + Hastings pics.

First time I have seen these.

They are marvellous photos, sharp with lovely exposure. Your dad was clearly an excellent photographer who always had the sun over his shoulder

I can only echo what everyone has already said. Fabulous photos and great memories of when aircraft had personalities.

The day I was posted into RAF Lossiemouth in 1989 there were Buccaneers, Hunters, Jaguars, Shackleton, Chipmunks and SeaKings, and not forgetting the reason I was posted there, 48 Sqn RAFRegt with Rapier. Nowadays everything is grey, and if you're lucky you might see more than 1 or 2 types of aircraft, but unlikely.
