A few Fishbeds from Fairford

Post by paddyboy » Sun Dec 17, 2017 8:38 am

Hi Peeps :P

With the car resembling an igloo this morning, I thought I would wait for the temperature to rise a tad before venturing out

Thus, a bit more delving was the order of the day, helped along by a couple of mugs of tea

These are defo all from IAT 1993 :D

Okay, question time, at the same show the Slovak AF donated a Mig-21 to the RAFBF, anybody any idea what happened to it?

Very nice Paddyboy.
I visited Papa AFB a few years ago after they were withdrawn and saw dozens lined up in the woods. Didn't manage to photograph them before getting chased off.

Ghastly..That Mig is now in USA presume they sold it.

Great post PB, I was there too, but had forgotten seeing these. I could never understand why they painted one of the A/C in that awful tu*d colour!
Many thanks for sharing and please keep em coming :thumb:

Ah, remember that display well. I have slides of that show, awaiting either a Windows 10 compliant bit of software for my scanner or a new one. I remember the burner flame being almost as long as the aircraft. And they displayed about an hour before the two '29s stuffed it in, I believe.

Great pictures of a great aircraft, You certainly keep this forum going. :thumb: :thumb:

I didn't make Fairford in 1993, but I did manage to photograph these aircraft at RAF Bruggen as they stopped on their way (must scan them when I find them).

Possibly the first time a MIG-21 had landed at RAF Bruggen ?

Keep them coming.
