Yet more from the eighties...

Post by Fibrous Freddie » Mon Jun 09, 2025 3:35 pm

Despite the vague title... Still persisting eh?
Came across a dusty box in my clear out... unopened since a house move in 1989!!!

Let's go back to the '1980's' again. Mainly 1986.
Some 'nice' jets, and a lovely ETPS Andover (even if not a lovely photo)!

Quite a lot of sky in these... and some aeroplanes blocking the view of the clouds, and I can even remember when and where some of them were taken!!!

A fun time was had! Goodness it really was fun!

No listed dates, no locations, no serials... not a lot of help at all. Some of you will remember more about these than I do.

Rolls of 36 exposures, manual focus and settings, short(ish) focal length 200mm, no 'machine-gunning'. Halcyon days.

If you've persisted this far I hope that even if frustrated, you've enjoyed.

Ho hum... getting bored with scanning, but there may be more... who knows.

All for now
Toodle pip

Freddie.

I do miss those days! So much variety and the chance of the unexpected, and all that without any social media. You just turned up on the fence and hoped for the best. Most days would give you some variety. Thanks for sharing 👍
Were these all taken at Boscombe? Didn't the CC varks have a deployment there?

The MO and CC were at Boscombe Down. They used the HAS's.
The deployment was just after 'El Dorado Canyon' and there was some concern in some of the excitable quarters of the local press about a follow up raid.
One foggy morning they launched three jets together (not as a stream). Very impressive.

Another triumph Freddie :thumb: No matter where you went in those times, it was virtually guaranteed that something interesting at some point in the day would show up. More often than not (in my case), it was usually at the end of the day, after I'd left for home

Interesting to see 987 Buccaneer with its original bomb bay and numbers on the belly before it gained the more familiar bulged bay it paraded around many shows in the 90s. Also XL563 pre rippled. Nice post.
