Twente 1996

Post by capercaillie » Mon May 12, 2025 3:29 pm

1996 saw the annual Dutch Open Day at Twente. Weather wasn't as good as the previous two, but still some nice items on show. A far side tour of the flightlines presented some good opportunities including stopping to see the new fleet of transports (Fokker 60s) up close. The Slovak MiG29 had a bit of a brown trouser moment entering his opening loop from take off on the perpendicular runway to the display line and vanishing for a few seconds behind the static KDC-10, luckily all was OK!

Czech Fitters flew as a duo and were really good

Drakens doubled up performing at Twente and Koksidje over the weekend.

Four Hungarian MiG29s were on deployment but only one was on show with the others out of sight!

Thanks for sharing these with us, I attended this show and it was the only time I got to Twente. Some great shots and memories here.

Cheers, I've seen it spelt with an h as well, but even Google Earth and Wiki (both very trustworthy  ) spell it as Twente.

Yeah, a bit confusion.. :'( Twenthe AB was located in Twente, a district near the German border.
