Canadian Starfighters weren't an unusual sight at Lossie, but the CT33 and the Kiowas were a one off.

Thanks for sharing these with us, some more great memories. Unless I'm mistaken, 215 is an F-5A.

A nice selection there. I have the Kiowas noted on 9/7/79, a very welcome pair of visitors. If I'm not mistaken they arrived at 1826, which shows that in those days at Lossie it didn’t always pay to give up and go home at tea time!

I missed the CT-133 you have pictured (should be 133542?), but I did photograph one on approach to runway 05 at Lossie a few years later. I think they were more common visitors to Kinloss than Lossie.

A great time to be at Lossie! Thanks for posting.

Mustang, Dagger thanks for spotting the errors, I was having a bit of bother trying to upload these and getting a wee bit frustrated with it all. The CT133 was the only one I ever saw and I spent mid 81-mid 84 at Kinloss as well.

Does anyone know what designation the Canadians gave the Kiowa, CH...

The Kiowa in CAF service was the CH-136 :thumb:

I moved up from Edinburgh around this time and have thoroughly enjoyed every one of your threads, I just wish that I'd had a better camera in those days. :)

Thanks for that Mike, I've amended the pics. I had trawled through my refrence book of N.American reggies and couldn't find it. Rumour at the time was these were heading back to Canada, but I can't imagine these doing the N. Atlantic.

The Kiowas were regular visitors to the UK as there was a few of them based in Germany for many years but they didn't get as far North as Lossiemouth very often. I'm sure that this pair stopped at Edinburgh Airport when I worked there.
