At the end of a very long cold and tiring day we were just packing up when we received a call saying "5 Jags had just beat up RAF Valley" and they could be heading our way.
Sure enough after a few minutes they arrived in some style. The first couple went below us and the other three (must have spotted us) headed straight for us. The jetwash from the last one knocked
all three of us over, the photo is a contender for my worst ever category!!
Fortunately they came back around.
A couple of weeks later 6 Squadron's boss Wing Commander John Sullivan and another pilot (whose name escapes me) brought a pair of Jaguars (one single seat and one twin seat) into RAF Valley.
The purpose of the visit was to show the aircraft to some Indian Airforce trainee pilots who were training on the Hawk at Valley, and some of whom would go on to fly the Jaguar with the Indian airforce and then give a lecture on the aircraft in the officers mess. Myself and several others were privileged to be invited to RAF Valley on this occasion to photograph the aircraft taxi in and on the visitors apron and then attend the ensuing lecture.
A fascinating insight into a wonderful aircraft.
