Le musée de l'Air et de l'Espace Dugny site

Post by xkekeith » Tue Sep 24, 2024 8:19 am

Le musée de l'Air et de l'Espace Dugny site held their annual open days last weekend, as its part of the European Heritage event, admission was free which helped make up for being ripped off for beers at the Gare du Nord !

Lovely pictures!. Doubtless people will not approve of their condition, but it would cost a huge amount of Euros to deal with them. Personally, I quite like seeing them in that situation. In shot two, it would appear that it is the tail of the laminar flow wing Hurel-Dubois thingy?

Individual- details of the open weekend each September are on their website from about June.

What a great "behind the scenes" post. Must do it sometime. Did see a few from a distance at a couple of Salons but would love to get closer with the camera. Thanks for posting.

Some lovely relics there including the lumpy DC-7 and Connie. Connie had 5 engines last time I saw it, quite a while back
Are the new builds for the museum or for a film project?

Interesting to see these, sadly the climate has seriously affected them. Not been to the Dugny open day but seen it from across the other side of Le Bourget. Some of those featured here were on display outside the museum when I visited in 1982 and they were in far better condition at that time. Thanks for sharing these with us.

Sad seeing a rare ELINT DC8 in this condition.

Cheers,

Isn't this NX664 that is lending its wings to 'Just Jane' so that they will both end up with a fully restored wing?

It is always a bit sad to see airframes in the state some of them are in, but a lot of it washes off fortunately.

Correct it is the former NX664, the storage shed was full of disassembled Lancaster pieces. Light was very poor so my photos don’t do it justice…

I have only ever managed to see stuff from the other side during the airshow. I can't remember if they lost one of the hangars when they had the fire in 1984 (?)

It's a long time since I was at Le Bourget, never mind Dugny, but a lot of what I saw in the 80's was on the other side then e.g. The Caravelle

Sad that much got moved over there and has apparently been left to the elements (although NOT the Caravelle)
