Lossie 77-78 part 2

Post by toom317 » Tue Aug 27, 2024 8:18 pm

More from my time at Lossie. Again not the greatest quality and also not helped that they are printed on textured paper. All processed by Elena Mae in Elgin. Wonder if they are still on the go.

A wee bit of background, back in the day VASS was based in half of 4 hangar and the VASS pan was between 3 and 4 hangars. I was a ground equipment electrician and our section shared the other half of 4 hangar at the time, so I got to see a lot of visiting aircraft, so in between photographing airyplanes I did the odd bit of electrical work. ;)

I'll stick with posting the RAF aircraft for now, these are in order of registration numbers. Again, info is from what I had written on the back so apologies for any errors. The dates are good, though I don't appear to have the dates for any of the Whirlwinds.

We still had some desert cammed aircraft back then, but it wouldn't be long before those schemes went. Lightnings were very rare visitors when I was there. For the Phantom lovers XT892 is the first Toom to make an appearance in this series of posts, but all the XV reggied Tooms I have will be first up in part 3.
