BRILLIANT!
Great to see those wonderful pistons, KC-97L and VC-131A to name just two of the gems featured in your most excellent post.
The 'Gallie' and 'Lifter' in the old MAC colours and the U-21A that almost looks like an old late model Seminole are other favourites of mine.
Another very big thank you to the man who never disappoints in this nostalgic section 👍
Best regards, Terry

Thanks Arnold, great shots once again. I remember going on spotting trips to Frankfurt and logging lots of transports, much easier in that scheme. Love the KC-97, I saw it two days later when it attended the IAT at Greenham Common. I believe it's preserved in the USAF Museum now. Thanks for sharing these with us.

Another great trip down memory lane Arnold - used to look forward to those fortnightly KC-97L `Creek Party` rotations. Saw many overfly Southern England to/from Rhein-Main but rarely identified them. I also remember C-131A 52-5787 on its numerous "Airevac" visits to the UK. Interesting that you caption it as a VC-131A. Enthusiasts always reported it as an MC-131A but its Air Force Record Cards don't agree with either designation. Throughout its USAF service it was only designated as a C-131A.

I agree with all the accolades re this post Arnold! A truly brilliant selection of American hardware that was active across Europe in the early 70's. Not a F15 or F16 in view! Great venue too - noted in the background was the wonderful VW Beetle and a Pan Am 747 as well. Thank you for posting.

Excellent. All my pictures from Frankfurt have the USAF apron has the background, so it it's nice to see these gems with the civil side as the background.

Another absolutely wonderful selection of just some of the vast amount of variety on the airframe front going around then, keep them coming Arnold and thank you.
Cheers.

Always nice to see a KC-97 - never saw one personally. All these are gems though - each and every one.

I’ll guarantee it went Ottringham - Pole Hill on 131.05 ! I’ll give you the date when I get back to the UK.
