On the outskirts of Fredericksburg, south of Washington DC lies Shannon Airport which I discovered whilst en-route from Pax River. It contains a neat little museum with old world US aircraft, most of which I hadn't heard of. I'm guessing most of us in the UK won't be too familiar with them so I've listed what they are :
Spad VII
1927 Standard E1 Trainer
1927 Travel Air 2000
1927 Pitcairn Mailwing PA-5
1936 Vultee V-1AD Special
1938 Bellanca CH-400 Skyrocket
1929 Curtis Robertson Robin J-1D
I'll leave you to match the name to the aeroplane!
A homebuilt looking Pitts like (but not a Pitts) flew in while I was there. Also the Mustang replica (about 2/3rds scale) I was told once flew but it so scared its owner that it's now static. The prop isd foam plastic by the way!
