Spitfire ML407 OU-V, incident.

Post by sherriff » Thu May 09, 2024 7:40 am

I'm hearing that this airframe force-landed in a field near its base at Sywell, possibly yesterday.
Reported as a nose-over but airframe not too bent, except for spinner and prop. Now back on its wheels.
I cannot find any news to back this up. I have seen a grainy photo of it, but don't know how to post that on here. DSTM !

Monday. Reportedly dismantled and trucked to Sywell by yesterday. Did it have a new engine and prop for this year?

If it didn't, it will now!

Hope no one got hurt.

Was watching this aircraft South of Naseby when something let go. Lots of loud banging followed by intermittent running as it was bottoming out of a manoeuvre. Glad they got her down OK! From the pic I've seen looks like they made it into the small private strip at Pitsford but overran and nosed over, thankfully nobody hurt

The rumour I heard (and I stress RUMOUR!) is that the aircraft ran out of fuel.

Likewise from a pretty reliable source. Need to wait for the AAIB report though.

Appears to have returned to the skies yesterday, according to ADSB - showing as up again currently...
