In October 1999 the Swiss AF said farewell to the beautiful Mirage 3S. On 22/10 a public day was held at Stans-Buochs to see the fighter for the last time in action. As I had no Mirage 3S in my collection until that day this was my last chance to correct that! I was not disappointed as no less than 22 (of 35) single seaters could be noted that day of which 12 flew in formation. The combination of nice, even summerly weather and the mountain backdrop made this a day to remember!
Wow what a great post Harold. The two special schemes are superb and to see those 12-ship formations must have been something really special. Thanks you.
Superb set depicting an iconic a/c against a most picturesque backdrop. Particularly like the special paint jobs but can't decide which is the best. Only one way to find out - a dogfight!
Hi Harold,
Beautiful memory of the Swiss Mirage III
The scenery is just perfect too !. We had several visits over to Waddington of Swiss Mirages for the ACMI but these just are just superb
Thanks for posting
Brilliant pictures, reminding me of great days in Switzeland in the late 70s, early 80s before heading to Sweden for weekend airshows. What a treat for a non-photographer like myself. THANKS Harold.
2326 is stunningly beautiful and making the gold one look a little plain. Stunning collection of pics of a beautiful aircraft, I'm glad I saw some at Waddington using the range.
Excellent shots, another sadly missed type. I visited Dubendorf and Payerne a few times in the eighties and nineties, great days. Thanks for sharing these with us.
Hi Harold, this is a very nice post that gets a well-deserved second life. Beautiful pictures of a great event. Thanks a lot for posting them.
