Looks like the aircraft belonging to Hawker Hunter Aviation...
I wonder if the chap had permission to use a drone?

Re: RAF Scampton Relics
It's not an RAF Airfield any more, and the MATZ/ATZ isn't active and R313 is deactivated, so as long as he followed his normal rules should be fine.
They've been sat there since the handover date, with no plan to bring them back on to the airfield - no idea what the plan is for them.

Re: RAF Scampton Relics
Looks like they’ve been removed from what was the base and dumped in the farmers field with as little effort as possible. Doesn’t look promising for them.
Re: RAF Scampton Relics
Just imagine those 4 being on the airshow circuit
Re: RAF Scampton Relics
I was hoping they were going to follow the other HHA aircraft up to Leeming, and be flying on a regular basis....
Did any of those 'frames ever fly whilst at Scampton?

Re: RAF Scampton Relics
XF995 flew for many years with HHA at Scampton until the Shoreham disaster grounded it. I don't believe any of the other jets ever flew at Scampton, although the Su-22 and Buccaneer both had regular anti-det runs.
Re: RAF Scampton Relics
Many thanks! The F-4 is an ex-German F-4E I believe?
Re: RAF Scampton Relics
I'm told the airframes are due to go up to Leeming, so there is hope still.

Re: RAF Scampton Relics
The F-4F at Scampton was never going to be the flying airframe. It was for spares as far as I recall whereas the one in Germany gained a UK Military serial ZK848

Re: RAF Scampton Relics
The Hunter XF995, last flew while at Boscombe Down, but during a touch and go around, the engine seized and the pilot did a great job to get her down. The jet was then transported by lorry to Scampton and never flew again. The pilot told me, he almost had to eject, before making the runway. Lucky guy.
Re: RAF Scampton Relics
Drove past Scampton today and the jets are still visible parked off the end of the old runway. Sadly the protective wrapping on the Su-22 and F-4 has significantly unravelled and the majority of the airframes are now exposed to the elements.
Re: RAF Scampton Relics
Can you walk to them round the edge of the field, parking at the far end of Ermine Street?

Re: RAF Scampton Relics
I hope there's a safe haven found for these airframes before the local vermin has a go at them them. It's only a matter of time

Everyone has a photographic memory; some just don't have film.
Re: RAF Scampton Relics
As the Home office plans for the asylum swamp were binned, I believe West Lindsay District Council is currently trying to figure out where the £300 million regeneration plan is at...
Re: RAF Scampton Relics
Indeed Tim, hopefully the WLDC bid to buy back the airfield will be successful, and maybe HHA will get access or option to take up their old premises on the northside of the airfield, where they were evicted from. Maybe these four jets will at least be able to gain access into the hangar storage in the interim of this 'Heritage Centre' project planned by WLDC.
It seems to me that the only winner in this whole charade of the past few years has been the haulier from York with his crane trucks who transported all the accomodation units into site, set them up on the old Red Arrows pan, and is now taking them away again

We shall see
