Mixed bag of scans Pt3

Post by KeBul » Sun Aug 14, 2022 10:48 am

Sorry F3 still no F3's - but there are some in the collection and one coming up soon.

The Luftwaffe Phantom... on one of my favourite taxiways heading down to Rwy 30.
Alconbury was the first base I went to, back in 1981 I think, invited by my brother and his friend so I could share 1/3rd of the cost of fuel, sitting on top of the wooden fence with my legs inside the base, waving at pilots of F4s, F5s and F15s as they taxied past in glorious sunshine. What a day, I was hooked (and very sunburnt)!!
After that I spent many a happy day at Alconbury, working for BT on a 14 day three week inevitably meant regular every third Friday trips up there, although so far I've not yet found many slides from those days out.

Enjoy

Owl End... fabulous spot... found in the 'old days' by perusing OS maps!
... and a smashing hunter.

These are wonderful images Kev. Thanks a lot for posting them. I have good memories of Owl End. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to come there regularly.
