Having looked through these, I'm lost for words, an absolutely stunning selection of shots, so much variety and the colourful schemes. It shows how many different types there were about and sadly missed today. Apart from the P-3s, the Neptune's were from a different era, then there's the aircraft from the test units. That 125 was a bit of a rarity at shows. Then there's the Vintage Pair which were a show regular until the unfortunate accident at Mildenhall in 1986. Some great memories and thank you for sharing these with us.

This is exactly why the RAF St Mawgan IAD was a 'Must do' event. Excellent record of the eclectic mix of attendees. The P-3 contribution was indeed brilliant, but the Neptunes remind me that due to my age & camera ownership I nearly missed the French examples in Service!

I remember seeing your original photo Tim over 40 years ago and being very jealous not owning a camera I think the P-3 line may have been taken on arrivals day 12 August 1980. They took no part in the air show but we also had two other Orions for static 157318/LL30 VP-30 and 158918/LF8 VP-16…. Those were indeed great times

I’d forgotten just how ugly the planned Nimrod AEW3 radar made the Comet look

Was worth the entry fee for ‘The Vikings’ alone
