Hi Mike :P

Any post that starts with a shot of a REAL Lightning (NOT that F35 rubbish) grabs my attention

Some awesome 'frames in the mix there

Thanks for posting :thumb:

Ditto the comments above, that Buccaneer looks pristine, and another fine set of images.
Cheers.

That Lynx looks like 'Triggers broom'

Nice collection of 'frames and well captured. I do like the Buc and the Migs.

Nice set Mike but distinctly lacking Canberras of which they have three great examples. The all black example with Playboy Bunny badge is by far the most interesting having had a varied career as a research a/c, incl. de-icing trials of other a/c, notably Concorde.

Holidays and a very busy time at the museum have conspired to make sure that I had missed this thread, apologies for not seeing it before - thanks for the great coverage an comments!

To answer the most recent question about the Lynx, here are some details from when it arrived just before Christmas:

"The helicopter in question is Westland Lynx HC.28 QP-31, which has been in store at Fleetlands, Hants for a number of years, where it has been used as a training aid. Built back in 1978 with the code number WA033, this Lynx helicopter initially flew in the UK as a trails unit using the registration G-17-21; before being purchased by the Qatar Ministry of Interior Ministry of Defence (MoD) and delivered to the Qartari Police with the serial QP-31."

Until we source all of the missing panels, it'll remain a bit of a 'Joseph' colour scheme!

There's a great chance this weekend to get close and personal with lots of our rotary exhibits during our Copter-Fest event (Saturday & Sunday).

There's still quite a way to go with the Lynx and at the request of the person who donated it to the museum it's likely to go back into Qatari markings.

that'll be a bit special to my knowledge there arent that many (if any) Qatari types on show in the UK.

That's one of several reasons why we agreed to the request.
