Great shots Keith, I can see that you found NAS Key West a very accommodating base. :)

You just caught the end of the Golden Age of USN colour schemes before they went all low vis and boring like the two examples shown which have already been toned down. When seen with 3481 still in original mks. there is no comparison. A year or two down the line they'd all have been done and yr pics would nt be so interesting. Well done for being there at the right time.

Keith

They are very nice, love the Skywarriors and the colours. Key West has changed a bit, I'd take them over the F5s I saw there last month!

Thanks Keith, what a great post - used to get the squadrons Skywarriors transit the UK for `Northern Wedding` a number of times if I remember correctly. Saw 146446/3 and 146447/4 doing that at Upper Heyford on 21 Sep'76.

Only just got round to these and the Jacksonville post.

All lovely, types and colour.

I went to Key West in 96 when I was with the wife, young son and the mother in law, and they were very accommodating as has been said. I asked that if I could somehow lose the family, would I be able to come back for a longer visit another day. Well I did and they just let me drive around alone to the end of the runway when stuff was launching, then allowed me up to the tower balcony for some look down shots of the ramps and I ended up staying most of the day.

Many thanks for posting, can't beat a bit of Navy and colour.
