Whats is this? Scanned image
Whats is this? Scanned image
To be honest I'm not sure if it's military or not but it is certainly nostalgic.
This is one of 17 photos that were given to me as a child by my Grandad. I reckon I've had these images some 25-30 years or so and until this weekend were presumed lost.
The collection includes a few unusual aircraft including this image that I have absolutely no idea what it is. The more recent military photos include a tooled up Buccaneer flying very low level, Nimrod and collection of HS125s. The latter taken in 1978.
Most the images don't have dates on them but nearly all of them have Hawker Siddeley Aviation Ltd, Brough, Published or Administrative photos stamped on the back.
Happy to post the others if interested.

Intresting picture would love to see more of them,
as for what type it is, not got a clue to be honest.
Key forums is the place to post such pics, the wealth of knowledge on that forum is top notch when it comes to pictures like this.
cheers Rich.

Re: Whats is this? Scanned image
Im just wondering if anyone can decipher the writing on the fuselage just below the wing. It looks like a makers mark something like B B, G G or B G. Maybe if we can figure that out then we can find out what it is
Re: Whats is this? Scanned image
I made a link over on KEY for any info and got a result.
clic on the link to view what this aircraft is. pretty certain more info will follow,
http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showth ... p?t=102152" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Would be better if i could use a direct picture over on there forum if you do not mind!.

Viper, ive been playing about with the image in 'microsoft office picture manager' and if you pump up the brightness and adjust contrast, within the area you ringed is a circular logo with the letters "B" and "A" in. Hello Guys,
Thanks to all, particularly Rich for helping shed some light on this mystery object.
I subsequently googled Blackburn Sidecar and came up with this website. http://www.aviastar.org/air/england/black_sidecar.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The photo of the Sidecar on this website is absolutely identical to the photograph I've got including the smudge beneath the fuselage which is clearly visible.
Interestingly, that website also contains several other images that are identical to those I've got at home. Namely the Blackburn TB of 1915, the Blackburn F2 Lincock of 1928 and the Blackburn B1 Segrave of 1930. The photo collection also contains other Blackburn types including an image of the Firecrest, Beverley and a tooled up beautiful Buccaneer.
I'll try and post the other photos when I get home from work this eveing.

Re: Whats is this? Scanned image
They definitely look like official HSA/Blackburns photos. The Buccaneeer is an S2 (XW52- serial visible) so it'll be 1968 and possibly taken at Holme-upon-Spalding Moor. Design & manufacture of parts of Nimrod was a Brough project in the 60's-70's.
