I'm off to Miami in November..........Yes I know its a long way off, But was wondering of there are any Photographer friendly Air Bases/Navy bases in the area, I will be spending most of my time 'civvi' shooting, but as I will have a car I don't mind driving up to 100 miles from miami for a good full day of photography. The longest lens I will have is a 70-200mm F4 L so will need to pretty close. Unless I hire a 100-400 for the week.
I found this site of bases, but trying to get an idea of what to do during my week there

Steve's Airshow site suggests that NAS Pensacola is only recommended when the Blue Angels are practicing. And NAS Key West is completely off limits. So I would suspect a lot of them are like that.
I know that a couple of the civilian airports in Flordia do have dedicated viewing areas - Orlando and Fort Lauderdale, for example (or they did a few years ago when I was there, anyway)

This one is ok too, but can generate the odd "pop-up"

Melbourne is a busy airport in itself. Not too sure about scheduled stuff but the GA scene is extremely active (or was a few years back)

Thank guys for the Advise,
Tony, You some great shots from FLL, I was informed FLL was a nightmare for photography and stay at MIA, but your sets throw that advise out of the window. I'll PM you from here or SBS forum closer the time. Hows Scotland treating you, missing MAN yet

Isn't Wings over Homestead on in November? I think it was in 2010.
482nd Air Wing operate from here. Although rather inactive compared to what it used to be like.

The display list is getting bigger for NAS Jax 2011. Think I will have to go now. Some aircraft on there I doubt we'll ever see in the UK
