Hi there,
AMARG experience and gmap.nl list 26 B-52s in area 24.
My photos from Feb 2024 only have 25 B-52s in area 24. So does Google Earth.
There is what looks like a fuselage section at the southern end near the white containers.
Is this the missing number 26?
MTIA.

Ferrari

Re: REQ B-52s in store AMARG
Hi Ferrari,
Yes.
There is a small fuselage section of B-52H 60-0049 in that position. It is a different colour to the B-52Gs in that area.
This aircraft was dismantled at Barksdale after being damaged by an on-board oxygen fire in 2014 and subsequently brought to AMARG.
From AMARG the vertical tail was transported back to Barksdale and used to repair 60-0051 which suffered in-flight lightning strike damage in 2017.
Since 2018 the vast majority of 60-0049 has been removed until only this last piece remains. You can see the removal rate playing back the timeline on GE.
Listing an aircraft in the inventory when only small parts remain is quite normal.

Re: REQ B-52s in store AMARG
Hi Freeman,
Many thanks!
I wonder if you can help with some other queries please?
The ARM/DMI scrapyard had 7 EC-130 fuselage sections. Usdemobbed lists six: 156170, 172, 173, 174, 175 and 177.
I had a look on c-130.net and a close match for the missing one is 161531 but that went to Canada some time ago.
In the same scrapyard was a sectioned C-97 with Utah ANG markings.
Definitely not XA-PII or 52-2604.
Any help received with thanks.

Ferrari

Hi Ferrari,
Sadly, no.
Andy Marden's USA Military Out of Service 2022/23 is another excellent resource and might suggest an answer though.
Good luck,
Freeman
