If your contact has photo for references for those two queries the last three of the BuAer are usually on the fin top, plus unit code letters would narrow down to the unit.
Whilst they were in the region did they happen to visit the Boeing airfields at all please ?
Any chance of a report or two from there if possible would be gratefully received
