The best place to see no one can tell yet.
Been there in 2022 and 2023, and the flyovers were in a different part of the city (well, the same road, but 3 miles apart). Which makes a lot of difference.
The Spanish are communicating well about the fly past, the participants, timing and locations a few weeks in advance.
For reference, in 2022 I stood near Stade Bernabeu, in 2023 a few miles up the road at Parque de El Retiro.

A while ago we attended this a few years running, at that time the evening before the fly past a visit to Quattro Vientos found most of the fly past helicopters parked up (plus a few spares) and the fast jets (and spares) at Torrejon. Next morning a visit to Torrejon to watch them all depart - many hundreds of people doing this with cameras and no security issues. Have things changed in more recent years and the jets now fly from their home bases?

Part of the jets fly from their home bases (Albacete, Zaragoza), but others like F-5 and AV-8 from Torrejon.
Helicopters fly from both Cuatro and Colmenar.

I encountered no issues with base security.

There was a spotters day on base for it last year at Torrejon. Has anyone heard of a similar event taking place this year?

Usually all involved bases have a spottersday. 11th in the morning Getafe, afternoon Cuatro Vientos and Colmenar Viejo, and the 12th Torrejon.
As far as I know it’s only for a Spanish organization called Association Aire, and as foreigner you have to contact the ministry of Defence, and hope you’re lucky.

The prta del angel caida of the Retiro on C del Alfonso XII (just up from Atocha) gave a good side-on view last year, the map suggests the same route.

Mike,
The web pages that this dosier is taken from merely says the parade starts at 1100hrs. You'll need to give yourself a little time to get in position because, as you might imagine, the bus routes are truncated due to the parade route.

And for the ones with a rental car, last year it took us some time to find a parking, and then walk towards (in our case) Retiro.
So be there early, is the advice I can give you.
