San Javier AB

Post by mdobuk21 » Wed Mar 22, 2023 2:53 pm

Hi

After some advice about San Javier AB in Murcia. In all the years we’ve had a villa not far from the base I’ve never stopped and gone to see the Spanish trainers. Are the PC21s up quite regular? Is photography allowed as it looks like you can get quite close to the runway.

Thanks
Mark

I was there at the beginning of March, 3 to 4 waves of Pc21 start about 0800 until 1300, 8-10 aircraft per wave, nearly all the same each wave, I saw 13 in total in a morning (0900-1300), The T-35's fly randomly at the same time but use the older shorter runway 8 in the same period. Some C101 flying also happening still.
Good for photo's there is a parking area at the end of the runway and you can walk onto the land around the parking as it is a nature reserve with pathways, there is limited parking down to the campsite and at the entrance. You get good shots on the runway, If you park at the car park and walk to the next corner you can get good shot on the threshold.
No problem with photography there.
