Re: Kalamata
Obviously only an idiot would shoot towards the hangars at a HAF base, especially Kalamata ...... but if anyone did, look closely at the 358 MED hangar where, just to the right you'll see another B205 in a shed, 450X where X is a rounded bottom number hidden by the tail rotor, with another rotorless helicopter behind it!

Only an idiot would point a scope towards an HAF base , but going by some of the posts on here this week a few did
Re: Kalamata
Well, if that’s the case, I can consider myself an idiot. But if you’re careful it’s well possible. Just choose the right time. And never got in to trouble during multiple visits in recent years.
Still need to get back there for my last T-6, ands few M346’s that still have to be delivered.

Re: Kalamata
Lots of spotters visit Greece every year and have done for a long time. With many interesting types still in service and wealth of older wrecks & relics…. Nice food and weather too. They now have photo/spotters days. Things have changed quite a bit since November 2001, common sense is still required but the hobby is much more understood now in Greece. So not all idiots!! But you will always get the usual suspect armchair enthusiasts having a moan.
Re: Kalamata
OCD is the name for the majority of the usual (spotters) on here. When they have there open days if they see you taking photos of anything else you are made to delete them. Or maybe that has changed now.
Re: Kalamata
are there still any T-2/T-37 stored at the far end of airfield to the terminal ?
Re: Kalamata
Spotting at Military establishments in Greece is still very much frowned upon. Yes they have frequent spotter days but these are held in such a way that the authorities can control who attend and also control what’s on show and can be photographed, as Northsky says if you’re seen taking photographs of anything they don’t want you to take, they will make you delete them(been there myself on several occasions, including officially organised base visits).Alf wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 10:52 amLots of spotters visit Greece every year and have done for a long time. Some things may have changed since 2001, but one thing that hasn’t is it’s still illegal to photograph, approach or loiter outside any Military establishment, therefore pointing scopes/cameras into bases is asking for trouble.
Re: Kalamata
ah yes got them and a F-4 with the small group
Re: Kalamata
There used to be another group of T-37’s located off the road behind some derelict vehicles, approx 150mtrs further North to where the T-2’s are stored.
