For anyone that’s thinking of renting a car to get to Andravida, I highly recommend these guys. I’ve used them several times without fault or negativity.
https://progresscarrental.gr/
Ask for FDW price, no credit card, no hefty deposits, clean and reliable cars and all cheaper than the larger multinational rental companies.

If you’re looking for accommodation near to Andravida look here
http://www.castella-beach.gr/
Located in Kato Achaia approx 30 mins North of Andravida and just off the E55 road. Great host, comfortable rooms, great food and stunning views across the water. Plenty of local shops in town to stock up with refreshments and snacks for your day ahead.
No affiliation to the hotel, stayed here several times and highly recommend

Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024
I applied on Monday of this week for my son and I, following the method suggested by slogan51 in his Jan 30th post earlier in this thread (thanks Mike) including photos of our passport pages. I heard back on Tuesday that we are accepted. The reply states that the unit (presumably at Adravida) will be in touch in due course to take the payment, but I haven't heard from them yet.
Hotels.com says that the Castella Beach hotel is sold out, so I have booked us into one in Patras.

Not teaching people how to suck eggs, just bringing to people’s attention of the entry requirements for Greece, which state your passport must be no older than 10yrs on date of arrival into country and be valid for 3 months after your departure date.I think the rest of the EU is the same. The 3 months valid after departure is one that catches a few people out.

Received my reply just now to say I am registered for 10/4
Shame the Castella beach hotel is full - we stayed there last year and it is delightful

Hi,
Apologies for jumping on this thread with an only vaguely associated question, but . . . . .
Would I be right in saying that spotting at the bases when it is not the spotters day will get you into trouble ? I have never visited Greece for my hobby and I was liking the look of the Ramstein Flag Exercise in September / October. Obviously I do not want to end up in a Greek Prison pleading my innocence to an espionage charge !!

Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024
Almost certainly - are you familiar with the 14 spotters arrested in 2002? If not you should maybe look it up - if you are then you shouldn't need to ask the question. Unfortunately not all countries tolerate the hobby.
Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024
Thanks for the swift and depressing reply, I remember the Spotters arrest, I was just ridiculously hoping that things may have improved. A nice "Greek Geek" holiday for my 50th Birthday in September would have been lovely. Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024
Weren’t the 12 spotters arrested during the Patron Day open base events, after going off on their own and I believe forced access into one of the hangars( not sure how true that is?). So even during open/spotter days you have to abide by the rules or face serious consequences and we aren’t talking a hour or two at the local cop shop. Spotting at civilian airports is tolerated to a certain extent.

Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024
First rule is leave your scanner at home!
At Andravida during the Iniochos spotter's day reception you are welcomed on base and advised at the end of the day to leave the base entirely and not hang around the fence afterwards - abusing their invitation and hospitality could result in the cancellation of future spotter days ( I could be getting confused with the Tiger Meet chat at Araxos in 2022 but it amounts to the same thing - don't kick the rrse out of it!)

Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024
We were caught outside the fence of Andravida a couple of years ago during Iniochos.
While we saw the police coming for us, we managed to hide the camera in the bushes.
According to the police we were lucky we didn’t take photos.
The issue with spotting is not the local police or military. (Especially around Iniochos, they know we’re there). It’s the local population. They suspect spies everywhere and report you to the local police, which can’t ignore these calls. We were even adviced to stay in sight of the fence, instead of further away where the locals saw us.

Thanks for all the replies, looks like I may have to do a belated birthday holiday to Gando for SIRIO instead.

Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024
As per current official status, Israel, UK and USA will fly from their respective home bases.
Also, I don't think the E-3F will be seen in Andravida

Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024
Currently wondering what to do on the thursday after spotters day (10/4). Does anyone know if they still do low level flying at that point in the exercise and if so whereabouts?
Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024
I’m assuming RAF Typhoons will be operating from Akrotiri, US F-16’s Aviano, French E-3 from Avord, or maybe Souda?
Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024
Not sure about the French Rafale. Could be Navy flying from the CdG ...
