Great head on shot of the P8A with full 90 degree turn on the nose wheel. An interesting thing it a US navy plane with the boom and nozzle (USAF) in-flight refuelling system only?
Cheers Rob

Hi Paul - great shots! Looks like you had a good time. I'm wishing I had made the trip but maybe next year.

Hi Paul. Cheers for the company chap - very enjoyable. That first Tonka with the black sky behind is a corker.

I'm liking all of that lot, especially nice catch is the special marked Xingu, not something you see every day!

A truly superb set.

The b/w does it for me.

How the wing blends with the cloud line, the runway expansion joint petering out to infinity together with the low down shot at the angle to the fuselage all come together to make a super aviation photograph.

Regards

 very good sir, thanks for sharing, love them all. And why did the USN select to have have a plane they cannot in-flight refuel themselves?

Lovely stuff. I particularly appreciate the Atlantique front three quarter view hiding that darn lighting tower behind the tail. I wish I'd found that angle coz I looked and looked.

The sole US Navy tanker is the Super Hornet in the '5 wet' configuration. The US Marines utilise the KC-130T and KC-130J. These all use the 'probe and drogue' system. The P-8A is a long range Maritime Patrol Aircraft and when operating is independant of the Carrier Air Wing. It makes sense to utilise the boom method of refuelling as the offload rate from a boom tanker is greater then a hose equipped tanker. Also, the US Navy E-6B Mercury TACAMO aircraft are equipped for boom refuelling as well.
