EGNO/Warton 27 July 2011

Post by GARYKING » Wed Jul 27, 2011 8:27 pm

Weather man got it wrong again today, Cloudy to start, then getting better. In real world, 100% of the blue stuff and cloud later :grr: So I only stayed till Lunch. Clear up again PM, but was to comfy in the back garden with a few beers.

In a way I'm glad the weather man got it wrong for Warton, it meant I got out early. Went to Blackpool/EGNH for some  Civvi stuff, then to Warton got there at 9.15am. Looked over at the flight line, just a grey Typhoon. So laid out the Blanket, poured a glass of Orange juice, listened to the Scanner and began to Tan, I mean Fry.

Didn't here anything on scanner, but at 9.45 I heard a fast moving Jet........... Thinking to myself, Low approach & Go around, no point getting the camera, I was more than shocked to see a Primer Tiffy doing a 180 at 'photo corner'. Now going through my head is great they are on 07's, they always come off short, and hoped he'd play nice..................... :halo: Play nice he did, taking full lenght of 07 and turning right in front of me.

The crew opened their visors on the turn and were prob laughing when looking at the topless (Lobster) guy in the sun by himself............. Oops that'll be me

Second Flight for this Tiffy.

A few minutes later Tarnish 5 called up for start. Then Taxi Blah Blah Blah. He 'd already be cleared for a right turn out, but I wasn't expecting this....

Full throttle, Must have rolled a couple of hundred yards (if that), then skies it, He never got anywhere near me :grr:

Excuse the blurred photo, I didn't have enough time to focus on a point. What a take off. To give you guys that don't know warton. That tree line is about 3/5ths down runway 07, and look at the height already, bare in mind he was gear up within 200 yards of rolling.

Tarnish 5 comes back to Play, 2 high speed passes, 1 off them was because of a Cobham Falcon 20 (G-FRAO) was on short finals, three touch and go's. He kept all the T&G'S low, turning at Photo Corner every time.

Just to give you an Idea, he wasn't much higher than this when he passed us.

Finally taking full length of 07. Tarnish 5 comes to a complete stop, waves and then turns about for the backtrack

A big thanks goes out to the Pilots are Warton. Keep 'em going full lenght when on the 07. :thumb: Perhaps you can pass the message to Percy & Co. Only ever seen a PC9 backtrack, and that was for a RWY 28 departure

C+C Welcome (Sorry to bore you half to death with the story, Just adds meaning to the pictures)

Thanks Mate, I'm still in shock that the Primer was back in at 9.45. He must of had an early start. Perhaps with the Cobham Falcon back in today, they had things to do with that PM, which meant early start for 'normal test flight ops'.
