As is becoming customary for me over the last few years with flypasts over London, I took the drive up to RAF Coningsby on the bank holiday Monday to catch the movements associated with the VE Day Flypast in London. With the Lancaster being temporarily based at RAF Waddington for the event and the BBMF fighters not taking part, it was just the Typhoons that departed, 9 in total, with 3 returning as air-spares. The highlights of the day had to be TE311 coming out early afternoon for a series of flypasts, a first catch for me with her wearing her new memorial markings of Sqn Ldr Mark Long on the starboard side, and of course the other highlight was the Lancaster returning to Coningsby, always nice to see the Lancaster out and about!
Enjoy a few photos!
