Anyway, having seen the forecasts, I put in a holiday request first thing on Monday morning for two days off at the end of the week. Then I found out that the base was closed on Friday, so had to reorganise for Wednesday and Thursday. I thought two days would give the perfect blend of topsides and quick climbs and would be the ideal opportunity to get properly acquainted with my new glass (100-400 L Mk II).
Wednesday's action first. Not too many keepers in all honesty - a mixture of the wrong settings, fighting the stiff breeze and (mostly) poor panning meant many more misses than hits, but good practise for what followed on Thursday.

So, lessons learned, settings changed, hopefully slightly better at panning, let's try again on Thursday...

I loved every minute of it, and I'm absolutely over the moon with the new lens. I know it's old hat for most on here that have been using it for years, but I wouldn't have believed the leap in performance from my previous 70-300 L.
