AN UNEXPECTED VISITOR AT OLD WARDEN

Post by Blue Diamond » Fri Feb 28, 2025 5:21 pm

A couple of days ago ZA671 made an emergency landing at Old Warden. Ironically it's the same machine that put down in a Dorset field last summer.
Here it is awaiting rectification as the erks guarding it bask in the sunshine.

Thanks for sharing this with us, nice shot. Not the first current type to end up at Old Warden, a few years ago, a Harrier ended up at OW and having gone tech, was pushed into a hangar for a couple of days.

Remember Harriers at OW air shows back in the day but missed the one you've mentioned.

Was it Christine?

From what I've heard 671 has always been a bad luck airfame, besides the roundabout incident, it also had a very heavy landing at Yuma back in 2012, rumour is that it is not a Chinook, but a cheap imitation of one. Notice the two roundels, thats so it knows which way is forward.

Reading the report and looking at the pictures it is surprising it was rebuilt. No wonder it is a touch unreliable.
