B52 sleeping under the Milky Way night sky

The clouds finally cleared last night and then just had to wait for the stars to be in the right place.

I saw the buff (from Dunfield) like you but wish I'd seen the sky too. Although I've heard of the Milky Way, I've never seen any hint of it, being a bit of a townie. I couldn't find the exposure details in your Exif data, unfortunately.

Yes this was taken from Dunsfield end yesterday evening. There’s various apps available to see when the stars, moon or sun will align with any given point of interest. The final image is a number of different exposures stacked together-as is common with astro photography - given the sky which is darker, and then the foreground which is much brighter with the floodlights etc. It’s difficult to see with the mk1 eyeball alone unless it’s a very dark area away from light pollution.

Understood but still a remarkable effort. I got similar with a bit of an orange sky about six hours earlier.

Superb image :thumb:
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!
