[Insert Top Gun Reference Here]

No Tomcats, but here's four of the six jets departing Mildenhall this afternoon back to USS Harry S. Truman somewhere in the North Sea having diverted in around lunchtime.

Possibly the first take-off by an E/A-18G Growler from English soil (there have definitely been one or two that have passed through Prestwick, but no other UK visits previously that I can think of). This was perhaps the best take-off of the day, keeping it low all the way down the runway before pulling up before us...

The other take-offs were slightly less spectacular, mostly yielding undersides as they banked away, but here's the other Growler (a CAG-Bird) departing about half an hour later...

Departing just in front of the first Growler was this F/A-18E Super Hornet with the second one leaving with the second Growler...

The pair of F/A-18F Super Hornets departed in between the E/A-18G-F/A-18E pairs...
