SU-22s at Malbork - 17-19 September

Post by Olief22raptor » Sun Sep 29, 2024 8:00 pm

Upon arriving in Poland on Monday the 16th, we headed straight to Malbork to find some jets on the ramp, including the twin stick in the old camo with a Tiger Meet special scheme, however all had covers on  so we headed into the town.

On the Tuesday morning, the pan was full of ground crew and after a short time, a single Fitter launched. A new reg for me and first Fitter in sun!

After a quick lunch lunch break, a pair of grey fitters went out and activity appeared around the Tiger at which point we all crossed our fingers, the grey pair came back in lovely light with a few circuits:

Another hour or so passed and finally the Tiger departed along with the grey jet that had flown all day. Upon arrival, they did a relatively unexciting initial however the Tiger pulled one of the tightest approaches I've ever seen from a jet. A very successful first day

The following day, we were back out bright and early, with the two twin sticks doing 3 pair sorties that day, as well as two single seaters with Boar nose art.

On the final day, 5 jets launched in the morning wave and typically we missed the first two taxiing, but was nice to get the Tiger and one of the Boar schemes.

The runway then switched to Easterly which isn't ideal for arrivals, but in the afternoon we caught a jet carrying SRCP-WR Air Target rockets which was rather interesting.

Good to see something different. Great captures especially the tiger scheme.

Just one criticism, you could have posted them larger! Fabulous stuff, especially the boar nose. Wonderful jets and great pictures.

Thanks for sharing these. Fabulous images of one of the last 'proper' aeroplanes in service.
